Christmas hats are on and the festive jumpers are out - it must be time for the Whole School Christmas Assembly
It is always a special time when the whole school gets together in the hall for our ‘Whole School Assembly’. It is a joy and a privilege to see all pupils, aged 4 - 16, come together to share in each other’s success and celebrate ‘the reason for the season’.
Our senior band led the whole school in a variety of carols. Year 8 got particularly into carol singing - yes we saw the swaying!

Pupils from across different year groups took to the front of assembly to share the Christmas story through a selection of readings from the bible. Well done to all who read these passages beautifully and clearly. You really helped to bring these well known words to life.

Mrs Santer shared a short Christmas message, supported by her three ‘simple’ shepherds. These poor shepherds had to put up with an array of ‘spontaneous’ pupil insults, including a bit of unscripted feedback from Mrs Froud! Mrs Santer helped us understand that the shepherds were part of God’s plan - that in choosing to break the biggest news story earth had ever heard to those living on the outskirts of society, we can be encouraged and reminded that God’s heart has always been for the poor, for the marginalised and for people who may feel like they are left out.

Throughout assembly, Mrs Santer awarded pupils from across the year groups with Headteacher Commendation awards, and Mrs Vardy announced the end of term leader board for House Points:
Joy - 932 points
Peace - 936 points
Faith - 994 points
Truth - 1078 points
Truth House Captains celebrated their win by distributing chocolate prizes to all pupils in their house across the school.
The moment we were all waiting for finally arrived with the announcement of the results for the annual Christmas baking competition. This year pupils were asked to bake four festive cupcakes. Move over Paul Hollywood - you should have seen the standard of these bakes! Not everyone can be a winner though, and after much deliberation and support from Mr Darmanin, the results are:
Winners:
Rose Year 5
Dora Year 8
Runners Up:
Abigail Year 3
Molly Year 4
Elliot Year 7
Joshy Year 7
Before we took to the playground for the much anticipated end of term rendition of The 12 Days of Christmas, Mrs Santer and Mrs Vardy shared a few end of term updates. We said goodbye to some of our leaving staff members. Pupils were reminded to stay safe over the holidays, and that all important end of term reminder - don’t dye your hair!
Merry Christmas from everyone at The King’s School
