Headteacher's welcome

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions that you will ever have to make. Children spend a considerable amount of their time in school and, just as every child is unique, each school is also different. At The King’s School we provide a nurturing Christian environment in which children can thrive and grow both spiritually and academically. Here childhood is valued and treasured and God is firmly at the centre of all that we do.

Having both primary and senior pupils on one site facilitates a strong sense of family, encouraging positive relationships between staff, parents and pupils. The King's School is a peaceful, secure and happy place where children are encouraged to have high aspirations and to treat others with kindness and respect. Our small class sizes ensure that every pupil is known and valued and that their individual needs can be met. There are many opportunities for children to develop their gifts and abilities and grow in confidence and character.

This has been a particularly exciting season in the life of The King’s School. Not only did we celebrate 40 years of God’s faithfulness and provision in 2022, but we also completed our new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA)  which has transformed our PE lessons and break times for our pupils. And if that were not exciting enough, we are now planning a new two storey Primary building to replace the existing portacabins.

While continually improving our facilities is important, this is not our main priority. Our prayer is that throughout their time at The King’s School children will grow in their faith, knowing that God loves them and has a plan for their life, and that by the time they leave the school they are well equipped for all that lies ahead and able to make a positive difference in the world.

If you have not yet had the opportunity to visit, please contact the office to arrange an appointment. I would be delighted to meet you personally and take you on a tour of our unique school.

Useful information

Clubs

We offer a range of lunchtime clubs for both primary and senior pupils and a range of different after school music and sports clubs. Seniors benefit from after school GCSE Revision clubs from the Spring Term onwards.

Wraparound care

Parents can book their children into breakfast club from 8.00am and after school club until 4.30pm on a weekly basis. Sessions can be booked via our school shop. Senior pupils may arrive on site from 8.00am and stay until 4.30pm (parental consent required for all after school activities). Parents must let us know in advance if they need to pick up their children later than 4.30pm.

Non-selective

There is no requirement for prospective pupils to complete an entrance exam. However, we do not offer vocational courses in the senior school and pupils must be able to access the GCSE curriculum across a range of subjects.

Transport

We do not have school buses but the school is well served by local transport networks. Parents often organise their own lift shares.

Parent parking

We have very limited parking onsite. St Swithun’s Wells Catholic Church very kindly allow us to use their car park for pick up and drop off only for Primary parents. We ask Senior parents to park considerately in neighbouring roads further away from the school. When dropping your child off please park without blocking or obstructing any property or access routes owned by residents. We value the new community that has grown around our school and are keen to develop positive relationships with those living nearby.

Lunch

Most pupils bring in a packed lunch but we offer a limited lunch service of sandwiches, jacket potatoes and pasta salad which pupils can order on a daily basis. Parents are invoiced accordingly.

"Anyone considering The King’s School for their children, will be making the best decision they have ever made for their academic, spiritual, emotional and social growth. Both my children attended the school and I have no doubt that the environment and staff played a key role in their development to encounter and thrive in the world."

Mrs Pole

"My son joined The King’s School in Year 2. The teachers, right from the start, identified his needs and made recommendations to assist him – provided us with guidance and support throughout, which made such a huge difference to my son who needed both behavioural and educational support"

Mrs Hamilton

"We've been part of The King’s School family for 7 years. We've seen our children grow in stature, maturity and their own personal faith. At no other school will you ever be given a prophetic word or verse of Scripture for your child! They're loved, cherished and valued by ALL the staff as if they were their own children."

Mrs Boxall

"The King’s School has been a huge blessing to us and our children. They love learning here, they love the teachers, they love the atmosphere. We’d recommend it to anyone."

Mr Hicks

"The King’s School's been an amazing experience for not only our children, but for our entire family. The school welcomed our family when we moved to the area, other parents and children were incredibly supportive and kind, and we instantly felt at home."

Mrs Shergill

"The King’s School is beautiful, inside and out! Every day our daughter learns so much more than just phonics and maths, she learns who she is and what she can do as an individual, and this school not only allows her to do this but encourages and supports her in every aspect."

Mrs Price

"The King's School is incredible. The staff are amazing and really care about & know all the children so well. Our girls have come on in leaps & bounds since joining. We love the atmosphere and the whole ethos. Couldn't imagine them being anywhere else now. "

Mrs Mullane

"Fantastic School. I have 1 in senior in his last year, and 2 in primary. The communication between staff and parents is very good. The kindness shown by staff throughout the primary school clearly inspires the pupils to emulate this towards each other. Highly Recommended."
