Pupils from Years 5 to 9 had the opportunity to meet with Dr Alex Corcoran, from Fordingbridge Surgery for an NHS Careers Workshop. Dr Alex Corcoran delivered an engaging session exploring the wide variety of careers available within the National Health Service (NHS) and the different entry routes for work. With more than 350 different careers within our NHS, Dr Corcoran assured pupils it is likely there is something for everyone.
Dr Alex Corcoran shared the parts of being a GP he enjoys the most and discussed the rewards of helping others. In addition to hearing about careers, pupils got hands on with some GP equipment such as stethoscopes, blood pressure machines and otoscopes. Pupils enjoyed hearing the peculiar items that have been found by Dr Alex Corcoran in patients’ ears, which once included a moth!
Today's visit was part of our wider careers programme which aims to provide pupils with a range of enrichment opportunities to help them navigate life after school and college.
