Mana Eric BIG Tea Party
On Friday, Mrs Santer took four of our Year 10 prefects to help serve tea and cakes at the Mama Eric BIG Tea Party, a fundraising event for the Christian charity, Equip.

The event took place in the beautiful historic venue of the Brethren’s Hall at The Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty. The girls worked tirelessly all afternoon and did a wonderful job of serving the guests at representing The King’s School in the community. Thank you to everyone involved.

Equip raises money for some of the poorest communities in Rwanda. The charity was established by a previous Headteacher of The King’s School.
More about Equip
Equip is Christian charity which has been working in Rwanda since 2008 building schools and sponsoring education, health and youth projects in and around Kigali. In 2018 we became a registered INGO (International Non-Governmental Organisation) in Rwanda, which has enabled us to expand our work to help more of the world’s most vulnerable. Mama Eric is one of Rwanda’s poorest, an elderly Rwandan lady with who despite her circumstances has, over the years welcomed dozens of visitors from Equip.
Two years ago, Equip started our fun, social tea parties so we could provide this support for Mama Eric as well as raise funds for our other projects. They have been extremely successful and enabled us to provide generous gifts of food and supplies to her throughout the year, pay for some hospital treatment and buy her necessary items such as a new mattress. This year we have decided to ring the changes and as well as encouraging supporters to have tea parties in their own homes, we are hosting a Mama Eric BIG Tea Party at the historic venue of the Brethren’s Hall at The Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty.
