A Special Puppy Visit
Primary pupils had a wonderful opportunity this week when three adorable puppies visited the school. The special visit provided a fantastic way for class teachers to explore the theme of life cycle whilst also highlighting the wellbeing benefits that being around animals brings.
Our Year 11 Student Ambassador, Reece, helped to set up the puppy room and do the all important cuddle check before Primary pupils came to visit. They had a little explore of the classroom and even gave Mrs Howard’s whiteboard eraser a nibble before it was put safely back in its place.

The puppies that visited belonged to Mrs Hatcher, one of our senior teachers and the Primary swimming coach. The Labrador cross breed puppies were still small in size but had their eyes open, and all three demonstrated a wonderful nature. Having been brought up with children, they were well versed in being handled and stroked by young people.
Mrs Hatcher spoke about how each puppy looked different, but shared characteristics and appearances of their parents. We learnt the puppies were eight weeks old, were very playful and were called Rex, Biscuit and Maverick. Pupils had a chance to gently stroke Rex and Maverick, whilst Biscuit decided to take herself off for a little lay down in her puppy crate.

The visit created some truly special memories for our pupils and provided valuable learning opportunities across the curriculum. Thank you Mrs Hatcher for leading this wonderful morning.
