Trip to Gilbert White's House 2021
This half term Year 3 and 4 went to Gilbert White’s House in Selborne, to support their learning in topic and science. The children had a wonderful time, exploring nature’s finest!
Firstly the children studied the different invertebrates that live in the local river. They discovered lots of creatures such as freshwater shrimp, mayfly nymphs, and water snails.
They also measured different sections of the river to help us see how the river has been formed over time.
Later on, we all walked up a zig-zag path up a steep bank, collecting samples of rock as we went. At the top we had a great view of the Downs and children learned about how erosion has exposed the different layers of rock.
