THANK YOU - National Volunteers Week 2026

National Volunteers Week

1st - 7th June 2026 is National Volunteers Week. At The King’s School, we like to use this UK wide week of celebration to formally acknowledge and share the many ways our diverse range of volunteers support our school community, and the contributions they make.

We have a wide variety of volunteers who support us in different roles. Volunteers who help in school, and those who quietly support us in prayer. To all of you, your contributions make such a difference to our pupils and staff, and we truly couldn't do it without you.

Thank you

We extend our sincere gratitude to every individual who has volunteered their time during the current academic year. Your professionalism, reliability, and genuine commitment to supporting our pupils' education have been exemplary. As highlighted within our recent inspection report, our school community is recognised for a culture of kindness. We know this extends beyond our staff team and is reflected by our volunteers, not just your kindness in giving up your time to support us, but in your warm attitudes towards our school community.

Thank you to our voluntary exam invigilators - for supporting operationally and helping to maintain a calm, professional environment for pupils during our exam season. We are so grateful for your time.

Thank you to our parent fundraisers and the PVB, who work hard work to help us provide those extra opportunities and resources that enrich our pupils' educational experience, like the Light Party, Undercover Bookstall and after school ice cream sales (returning next term!). Thank you to the team who help serve tea and coffee in primary assembly, helping create a sense of community with parents.

To our volunteer readers. classroom helpers and office/site volunteers – the time you spend listening to children read and supporting them in class is so appreciated and helps develop a love of reading. The time spent sorting second hand uniform, tidying the bookshelves and providing general help around the school does not go unnoticed.

To our volunteer gardeners – we are thankful of the time you spend maintaining our planters, which are full of colour. (Sorry we have added so many more to your workload!)

Lastly, to our Governors and Trustees, thank you for the hours you put in to support the school and the Leadership Team.

Every single one of you plays a vital role in making The King's School the community it is today. Thank you for your generosity, commitment and care.

Opportunities for Future Involvement

We welcome enquiries from members of our school community who may be interested in volunteering. Whether you have time to support with reading, assist in classrooms, help maintain our grounds, or invigilate examinations, we would be pleased to discuss how your skills and availability might align with our current needs.

Those interested in volunteering should contact the school office in the first instance, where information regarding our volunteer procedures and safeguarding requirements will be provided.

Thank you once again for your outstanding contribution to The King's School.

"Anyone considering The King’s School for their children, will be making the best decision they have ever made for their academic, spiritual, emotional and social growth. Both my children attended the school and I have no doubt that the environment and staff played a key role in their development to encounter and thrive in the world."

Mrs Pole

"My son joined The King’s School in Year 2. The teachers, right from the start, identified his needs and made recommendations to assist him – provided us with guidance and support throughout, which made such a huge difference to my son who needed both behavioural and educational support"

Mrs Hamilton

"We've been part of The King’s School family for 7 years. We've seen our children grow in stature, maturity and their own personal faith. At no other school will you ever be given a prophetic word or verse of Scripture for your child! They're loved, cherished and valued by ALL the staff as if they were their own children."

Mrs Boxall

"The King’s School has been a huge blessing to us and our children. They love learning here, they love the teachers, they love the atmosphere. We’d recommend it to anyone."

Mr Hicks

"The King’s School's been an amazing experience for not only our children, but for our entire family. The school welcomed our family when we moved to the area, other parents and children were incredibly supportive and kind, and we instantly felt at home."

Mrs Shergill

"The King’s School is beautiful, inside and out! Every day our daughter learns so much more than just phonics and maths, she learns who she is and what she can do as an individual, and this school not only allows her to do this but encourages and supports her in every aspect."

Mrs Price

"The King's School is incredible. The staff are amazing and really care about & know all the children so well. Our girls have come on in leaps & bounds since joining. We love the atmosphere and the whole ethos. Couldn't imagine them being anywhere else now. "

Mrs Mullane

"Fantastic School. I have 1 in senior in his last year, and 2 in primary. The communication between staff and parents is very good. The kindness shown by staff throughout the primary school clearly inspires the pupils to emulate this towards each other. Highly Recommended."

Mr Gordon
