Year 1 and 2 dress up day
On Thursday 14th October Year 1 and 2 travelled back in time to find out about the life of Florence Nightingale. Children dressed up as Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole, Soldiers from the Crimean War and modern day doctors and nurses. We all enjoyed: eating a Victoria Sponge Cake (highly educational as Queen Victoria herself liked to enjoy a slice for afternoon tea!); learning how to put each other in the recovery position; bandaging each other’s fake wounds and sharing interesting facts about the famous nurses. The role play corner was extended to the whole classroom as even adults were bandaged and nursed through some quite severe illnesses and injuries.
