Virtual Work Experience

We have teamed up with recruitment agency, REED to provide our Year 11 students with an opportunity to complete a virtual work experience as Covid-19 prevented them from completing the usual two weeks of work experience in Year 10.

Each day students virtually met key staff from across REED who told them about their department and job role before setting them tasks relating to the core functions of their department; this was designed to help students gain a real insight into what working in each area involves. Students worked in teams of up to 6 to complete the tasks which ranged from creating handbooks, training PowerPoints, budget spreadsheets and social media marketing campaigns. The week culminated with each student making a final presentation to their group about what they had learned from the experience.

We were so impressed by how well the year group engaged in the week, many of them wearing suits each day to ‘work’, with the odd brief case and umbrella making an appearance! A particular highlight were the daily tea and biscuit breaks and students also received certificates of commendation for anything from being the best dressed, to producing the best work.

Well done, Year 11 – you have shown yourselves to be very employable!
